"The Preachers chiefly shall take heed that they teach nothing in their preaching, which they would have the people religiously to observe and believe, but that which is agreeable to the Doctrine of the Old Testament and the New, and that which the Catholick Fathers and Ancient Bishops have gathered out of that Doctrine." A proposed canon of Elizabeth I, 1571

St. Vincent's School was vandalized last night

My beloved St. Vincent's School was vandalized last night by a person or persons unknown who spray-painted the sign in front of the school library with anti-religious graffiti (i.e., a very vulgar word before "God"). They also defaced the back wall of our middle school with a "Satanic" pentagram and other symbols that made their distaste for Christianity clear. Our head of school told me that Bedford police said this is not the first such vandalism of a church in our area in the recent past.

Please pray for whoever did this, that they might turn from their hatred and live through the grace of Christ. And please pray also for our young students who saw this graffiti before it could be covered up and were disturbed.

The Benefits of "The ESV Study Bible"--the Cadillac of Study Bibles

This brief interview with the Rev. Dr. J.I. Packer addresses the benefits of The ESV Study Bible. (Dr. Packer is the theological editor of this study Bible.) The English Standard Version is the English-language Bible that I strongly recommend to those who ask, and I have already given The ESV Study Bible as a gift to some of my finest theology students at St. Vincent's School. It is simply the best study Bible on the market. Order your own copy today. You won't regret it!

Diocese of Fort Worth Answers the Rump "Diocese's" Lawsuit

Attorneys for our diocese (the religious law specialists Sharpe, Tillman, & Melton, P.C.) today filed our Answer to the lawsuit initiated last week by the rump TEC "diocese of Fort Worth." A brief story about this development may be found on our diocesan website. The twelve-page Answer itself may be read here in PDF format.

May God give our attorneys wisdom in the days ahead, and may He watch over our diocese and its ministries.

The Immaculate Conception at Nashotah House

In light of the fact that I have been teaching my middle school students about Marian doctrines for the last week (and viewing the classic film, The Song of Bernadette with them), I thought I would pass along this little gem on Facebook reflecting the celebration of the feast at Nashotah House Seminary. Typical, from what I know.
